Dura-Craft 'Newberg'      building progress

some of the wood for assembly

I decided to assemble a doll house for my granddaughter. But, I wanted one a bit better than a plastic Barbie house, I purchased the Newberg, figuring a little glue here and there, and it would be done. What a surprise when the box of wood arrived!

At this point I had to stop and decide -- glue the door in? or make it operational?
Notice I painted the window frames, before I installed the silkscreened plastic windows. I should have decided on colors of the interior trim, as it was difficult to repaint the inside after it was assembled.

decision made.........
The door was designed to be glued into place, and non-working
To make the door open, I purchased the smallest hinges I could find. Then cut most of the attaching plate and the screw holes off, and cut a slot in the door and door frame. Set hinges in place with super glue.

to make sure it would stay hung, I applied more super glue.
This was a mistake, a little super glue goes a long way. After I managed to get the non-working hinges out. I tried again, using less glue.

The door works..!! however I had to re-position the door frame to make a stop for the door.

Almost complete, except stairs and roof shingles.
